Customers can stay updated on new inventory available by subscribing to De Novo’s newsletter, checking the website often & following Living De Novo on social media. This is not a guarantee that each & every new item is shared before being listed; however, for items that are shared ahead of time, these resources are your best option for staying in the loop!
The best way to contact Living De Novo is via email to livingdenovo@gmail.com. De Novo is often busy creating newly upstyled items (AKA De Novo "Glamtiques") and/or searching for & curating amazing new pieces to bring to you. This takes a lot of time & often makes it difficult to offer immediate assistance via phone. Email tends to work best in this environment as it allows flexibility in responding to your inquiries. Having said that, De Novo is more than happy to accept your calls as well!
The term "De Novo" may be defined as; anew, afresh, from the beginning, over again (as if the first time). When I came across the term, I realized it fit perfectly for combining my passions of creating & curating antique & vintage items! I enjoy giving sweet secondhand wonders a second chance (over again) for new life (from the beginning); whether that’s by upstyling an old piece with a new look or simply rehoming an item to a new home where it will be loved, cherished, & continue having history & memories added to it’s story. When you purchase & re-home a special piece from Living De Novo, you’ll feel good about helping our environment by keeping these items out of our landfills. You’ll also feel good knowing you’re setting a good example for those around you. Recycle ♻️ Renew ♻️ Reuse ♻️ Repurpose Saving our planet one preloved at a time!
The short answer is no. Living De Novo is constantly updating merchandise. Between creating new pieces & sourcing new products, not everything has been added to the store. If you are looking for something specific, please inquire by sending an email to LivingDeNovo@gmail.com. You never know, De Novo may just have exactly what you’re looking for! Please allow 24-48 hours for a response.

No, currently Living De Novo only sells online.
All sales are final, except on the rare occasion an item is listed as "new". For De Novo’s detailed policy, please visit Returns & Refunds. As with all preloved home furnishings, there may be minor wear from an item’s history & journey to now. While it’s possible to find preloved items in perfect condition, it is rare, & the majority of pieces may show wear that is normal for it’s age & use. De Novo views these not as imperfections but badges of honor, that help narrate their stories & add character to each piece. When applicable, De Novo strives to disclose any & all "badges of honor" in the product’s description. Buyers are encouraged to read the full description for each item & view the included pictures (these are considered part of the product description). Some items may have small imperfections related to the creative process. Many of these items were handmade at a time when different tools or technology were used. Just as humans are imperfect, so can be their work. Object imperfections made during the creative process add character to a piece; & to De Novo this character, in most cases, reaffirms a piece as authentically artisan. In addition, buyers are encouraged to ask questions, request more pictures, if necessary, & perform any research about items prior to purchasing. Once an item is sold, it is yours to keep. Unfortunately due to the unique nature of items curated, returns are not accepted. Everything is sold "AS IS" and all sales are final without any guarantees unless a prior agreement has been made or the final receipt indicates differently.
De Novo sources items through; auctions, estate sales, garage/yard sales & perusing secondhand stores, flea markets & more, in order to bring you unique, time-honored pieces you’ll cherish; and aspires to carefully select & curate creative & distinctive interiors for your home. De Novo has a personal collection of these items as well, & as a guideline, applies the same standards of quality, for all items in the shop, as it does for its own. Equally, De Novo strives to produce beautiful, one-of-a-kind, unique, revived & upstyled furnishings (De Novo "Glamtiques”) for your home.
De Novo is not a professional appraiser & is unable to provide this service. Giving outdated furniture a fresh new look and curating sweet secondhand wonders is a passion of De Novo’s; however, De Novo does not claim expertise regarding the history or value of any merchandise in the store, other than general knowledge obtained through De Novo’s experience passionately researching, sourcing & handling vintage & antique items in order to price them to sell. All items are identified & described to the best of seller’s ability & with all available information at hand. Periodically, De Novo will seek an appraisal for an item to more accurately price it, which in turn will become part of the buyer’s information about the piece at the time of sale. Buyer’s are encouraged to do their own research, view all pictures (they are considered part of the description) & ask any questions 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙧 to purchase. No alterations are made to any item sold unless expressly indicated by De Novo as an upcycled/upstyled/Glamtique item. Otherwise, items are listed in the same condition they are found, with the exception of some dust or dirt that may have been cleaned off. All serious cleaning, polishing and/or repairs are the decision of the buyer.
De Novo does not barter & takes pride in offering fair pricing. Merchandise is priced to sell. Several factors go into how merchandise is priced. There is not one clear cut method. The price of merchandise is determined on factors such as; availability, condition, quality, market saturation, ease of sourcing, refinishing (if applicable) & more. How much De Novo paid for each item is also a big consideration, along with the amount of time & work that went into curating a specific piece. For each piece there is time involved researching, sourcing, traveling to different locations & "picking" (searching through) many items. For estate/auction items there is time involved "picking" the Internet, following sources, searching items available, bidding in auctions & if won (pay the hammer price + buyer’s premium of 10-30% + commissions if applicable + taxes) , scheduling a pick time & hauling item(s) to storage (+ the cost of storage). These auctions are at all times of the day. Sometimes this takes place while eating dinner or running errands & it can be hectic! At times there may be several auctions going at once. This is just a snapshot of what goes into curating these sweet secondhand wonders for you! Beyond this, there is also time spent researching the history and availability of a specific item in order to accurately describe & price it, as well as time taken to post items for sale on different platforms. For De Novo "Glamtiques" it is much the same as above; however, in addition to the above, there is also time spent creating a unique, one-of-a-kind piece that involves designing, painting & more. All of this & more takes an exceptional amount of time and effort. De Novo hopes buyers interested in bringing home a charming & special piece will understand & agree with De Novo’s fair pricing & thanks buyers for their support!
Unfortunately, De Novo is unable to hold items. Past experiences has led to the decision not to, as often those that request a hold have not returned either to buy or notify of no longer being interested. When this happens, it leads to missed sales by those interested parties that would otherwise buy an item had it not been on hold.
Yes, De Novo has a passion for & special interest in upstyling (reviving) old pieces with a fresh new look using chalk paint, waxes & any other embellishments; such as moulds, and image transfers. De Novo loves the challenge & creativity of taking something old, that may otherwise have ended up in a landfill, & turning it into a beautiful, unique, one-of-a-kind piece. Anything old can be seen as a blank canvas for something new! Occasionally you will see links to current projects on De Novo’s home & product pages. You can also find past projects in De Novo’s photo gallery. Please keep in mind, this website is new & the gallery pages are still under construction. There is much to be added! Upstyled items are indicated as "De Novo Glamtiques" on the website. De Novo Glamtiques available for purchase are listed under the "De Novo Glamtiques" category in it’s store.
The definition of De Novo is; anew, afresh, again & is closely related to; once again, over again, second time. It’s often used in legal & medical settings; however, considering it’s definition, it seemed to have the perfect meaning for giving old, previously loved items a fresh new start at second life!
Living De Novo isn't just the name of my business, it's a lifestyle! It’s a term De Novo coined for a specific & conscious way of inspired living. One that will help you discover a greater sense of connection & authenticity in the one place we spend most of our time, home. Living De Novo is essentially choosing to surround yourself & decorate with charming preloved items, sweet secondhand wonders that evoke warm memories of your past. It’s rediscovering yourself where old is new! By "Living De Novo" not only do we rebuild warm memories within our homes, we leave the world a better place, choosing old over new. It’s lessening the burden of our landfills & encouraging others to do the same through our actions. PreLoved is anything pre-owned (secondhand) but not necessarily a vintage or antique. Vintage is usually classified as being an item at least 40 years old but not more than 100 years old. Antiques are items at least 100 years old. Upstyles are preloved items that have been revived with a new look. These items can be from any one of the three groups mentioned previously. De Novo decided to include all of these in its name because a wide range of unique, pre-loved items are available, & while most items are vintage or antique; an item being available does not necessarily mean it is vintage or antique. Product descriptions always include this information. If a customer is not sure, De Novo recommends contacting it for more information prior to purchase.
De Novo has a wide variety of preloved merchandise available including but not limited to; vintage, antiques, collectibles, retro, vintage inspired, shabby chic, farmhouse, eclectic, boho, French country, grandmillennial & much more! The styles of merchandise available is really dependent on what De Novo is able to source at any given time. De Novo aspires to carefully select & curate creative & distinctive interiors for your home and offers a range of items to fit any aesthetic. There is not one particular style; if an item stands out & is interesting, unique & in great condition, then it’s of notice to De Novo! In addition there isn’t one style of Glamtiques that De Novo creates during upstyling, rather, De Novo creates intuitively, waiting to be inspired by each piece. De Novo Glamtiques may be reflective of one style or created with a combination of styles & techniques.
De Novo prefers to create intuitively & by inspiration received for each piece. De Novo equally enjoys selling to buyers that feel connected to the work & pieces it creates. For this reason De Novo does not accept commission work at this time.
